Reidville Profile

Back

Reidville is a small town of approximately 500 residents situated along the Humber River directly across from the Deer Lake Regional Airport and 7 kilometers from the town of Deer Lake. The river is beautiful during all seasons of the year.

Spring arrives with beaver emerging from their winter homes. Summers bring the salmon, birds, ducks and Canada Geese. Fall displays the miracle of the winter freeze occurring as moose and other wildlife graze along the shoreline. Winter totally transforms the waterway to a massive ice thoroughfare for winter activists - snowmobilers, skiers and many others.

The presentation on this page gives a "birds eye-view" of the town as it was in 2000; from Trout Brook to the Cache with aerial photographs (taken by Walter Shears). Other photos in the presentation depict much of Reidville as it is today.  However, a lot of development is happening in the western section, between the Northern Peninsula Highway and the original town site. The Reidville boundaries extend from the Northern Peninsula Highway to Patty's Reef along the Humber River.

Every year the town celebrates Canada Day, Christmas, the Volunteers and many special events. For a more extensive view be sure to visit the various pages dedicated to these activities

Reidville Town Crest

Reidville Town Crest

The crest was designed by Kenny Elms in 2000 during a contest to create a crest that would depict the history and life style of the residents of Reidville.

Each entity is represented as;

The fish illustrates the magnificent salmon fishing on the Humber River which runs south of the Town.

The strawberry signifies the fertile land which has been farmed for self preservation since settlers first arrived.

The trees represent the logging / pulp and paper industry which have been the main source of employment for Reidville and the surrounding areas.

The sun rises over this beautiful region from the East and Southeast spreading its light and glory over all of its residents.
